Situated between Fiji and Samoa, Wallis and Futuna Islands are a French overseas territory. Broadly comprising of two groups of islands namely, Wallis and Hoorn Islands, this part is known mostly on account of the tourism potential of the region. This island nation has limited air connectivity and mostly chartered flights make their way into the country. The Futuna Airport is the sole airport of Wallis and Futuna Islands that acts as major link of accessibility to this small nation in the South Pacific.

The Dutch were the first Europeans who made it to the Wallis and Futuna. They were followed in by French who ruled the islands for quite a long period of time. However, after these islands attaining sovereignty in 1959, they have been declared a French Overseas territory.
