There are several airports in Afghanistan and the vast scope of these airports include both the domestic as well as the international ones. In the whole country there are two international airports which are as follows: the Kabul International Airport and the Kandahar International Airport. Afghanistan International Airports:

  • Kabul International Airport: Kabul International Airport which is also known as the Khwaja Rawash Airport is located almost 16 kilometers from the downtown area of Kabul, Afghanistan. Established in 1970, this international airport is regarded as one of the major access to Afghanistan. Various international airlines land in thi place, which includes Azerbaijan Airlines, Ariana Afghan Airlines, Air India, Pakistan International Airlines, Kam Air and many others.
  • Kandahar International Airport: Kandahar International Airport is located at a distance of almost 16 kilometers in the direction of south-east of Kandahar City in Afghanistan. This international airport was built by the United States in the year 1960s and this project was done by the United States Agency for the International Development program.
Afghanistan Domestic Airports:

  • Jalalabad Airport: The Jalalabad Airport is one of the most important domestic airports in Afghanistan. This place is located at a distance of 5 km from the southeast direction of Jalalabad and many of the domestic flights land at this place.
  • Kunduz Airport: Kunduz Airport is located at a distance of almost 8 km from the southeast direction of the of Kunduz city. This place is situated at a distance of almost 14 km towards the west of Khan Abad, 40 km in the south direction of the Oxus River and 53 km south from the Uzbekistan border. In the recent times, this domestic airport is, in the recent times, used by the ISAF and for various other humanitarian flights.
The other two important domestic airports of this country are Herat Airport and Mazari Sharif Airport. There are two other airports which are used for the purpose of military causes and they are the Bagram Air Base and the Shindand Airbase.
