Aero Continente was one of the major airline of Peru. Based in Lima city of Peru the other name of the airline is the Nuevo Continente. The airline became the leading airline of Peru serving many domestic and international destinations. The airline was established in 1992. the initial service of the airline focused on the charter flights. The service of commercial flights was started on 20th July 1993. Aero Continente faced many challenges in the beginning especially with the Peru's flag carrier Aeroperu. After Aeroperu stopped its services Aero Continente gained popularity and started expanding its services. It was after 1999 that the airline reached its zenith and became the leading airline of Peru. The expansion of its services made traveling easy for Peru people. The airline connected various international cities to Peru. One reason why the airline became famous was their efficient service and low rates. This helped in reducing the travel expenses and maximum number of passengers started traveling in Aero Continente.

The major airline which helped in connecting numerous cities was Aero Continente. But the airline ceased its operation in 2005. Aero Continente then launched Aero Continente Chile in collaboration with Chilean investment. But the government of Chile accused the airlines of trafficking drugs by using their airlines. In 2002 the Aero Continente Chile stopped its operation.
In 2004 Aero Continente was barred from entering United States thus hampering its services. The insurer of Aero Continente which is Global Aerospace is partially owned by Americans they suspended all the transactions with Aero Continente which devastated its service. Without insurance the airline has to suspend all its service not only outside Peru but also inside. By 2005 Aero Continente completely suspended all its service. During its service the airline offered excellent service making it a favorite airline. The destinations to which the airline offered service was Iquitos, Juliaca, Pucallpa, Arequipa, Tarapoto, Trujillo, Tumbes, Cajamarca, Tacna, Chiclayo, Puerto Maldonado, Cuzco, Piura and Lima.
