LAB Airlines

LAB Airlines is also known as the Lloyd Aéreo Boliviano. This was the national airline of Bolivia and it served both as the passenger carrier and cargo airline. The base of LAB Airlines is in Cochabamba. The passenger and cargo service of LAB Airlines was to many domestic and international destinations. The base of the Lloyd Aéreo Boliviano is in Jorge Wilstermann International Airport, Cochabamba. The airline was founded in 1925 in the city of Cochabamba by Guillermo Kyllman. The full name of the LAB Airline was Lloyd Aereo Boliviano S.A. The fleet of the LAB Airlines in the beginning consisted of the Junkers F-13 that was gifted to the country by the German community that stayed in Bolivia. The international destinations were operated from 1930 in association with the Brazilian Airline. The destinations initially were Rio de Janeiro, Corumba and Brazil. During war times, the fleet of the LAB Airlines were rented out to the Government services. The fleet of the LAB Airlines began to grow with the demand for more destinations and passengers as well. Newer fleets were acquired by the airline and the passengers continued to increase.


LAB Airlines has hubs in Viru Viru Int'l Airport and the focus cities are El Alto Int'l Airport. The CEO of this company is Ernesto R. Asbún. The destinations covered by LAB Airlines are Bogotá, Lima, Cochabamba, Panama City, Buenos Aires, La Paz, Santiago de Chile, Havana, Miami, Caracas, Mexico City, Santa Cruz, Sucre, Madrid, Cordoba, Cusco, Sao Paulo, Tarija and Washington, D.C. These destinations were very much sought after ones as travelers came from all over the globe to visit Bolivia as it has numerous business opportunities and many tourist spots. Traveling by the airlines is easier and faster.

Now the ticket rates too are very cheap with the competition on the rise. The air fares can be checked out on the website of the airlines and bookings can be done too. There is a frequent flier program offered by the LAB Airlines. This program is known as Lider Club. And the member lounge is known as Elite CLAB.

The fleet of LAB Airlines comprises one Boeing 727-100, one Boeing 737-300 and six Boeing 727-200. Many of the fleet has gone for restoration as the service of the airline has been suspended by the Government of Bolivia for financial problems. The operations of this airline has been suspended from the year 2007. The charter flights of LAB Airlines however has been operating. After the renewal of the license commercially by the Government, the LAB Airlines can start operating its flights again.
