Spirit Airlines is an airlines company of the United States of America. It charges are very low. Spirit Airlines operates though out America. The company has it’s headquarter at Miramar, Florida in the Miami metropolitan area. The company was founded in the year 1980. The main hubs of the airlines are Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport. The airlines company refers these hubs as bases. The main people of the company are B. Ben Baldanza, Martin Harrison and Tony Lefebvre.

History of Spirit Airlines:

The company was established in 1980 and was then known as Charter One. It was at first a charter tour operator based in Detroit. The organization used to offer travel packages to different attractive places such as Las Vegas, the Bahamas and Atlantic City. In the year 1990, Charter One started provided service to Atlantic City from Boston and Providence R.I. It then added jet equipment in its list of fleet on May 29, 1992, and the company was renamed into Spirit Airlines. It then started operation from Detroit to Atlantic City. In the year 1993, the airline company started to serve the destinations such as Florida. Spirit Airlines saw rapid growth in the next five years and offered services to Los Angeles, New York, Myrtle Beach and S.C.
Destinations covered by Spirit Airlines:

Spirit Airlines currently offers services to 37 destinations. It primarily covers places such as the United States of America, Central America and the Caribbean. The destinations covered by Spirit Airlines are Los Angeles, Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Detroit, New York City, Guatemala City, San José, Managua, San Pedro Sula, Santo Domingo, Saint Maarten, Grand Cayman, San Salvador Island, Montego Bay and many other places. It also covers places such as Lima of Peru and Caracas of Venezuela.

From January 31, 2008, it will offer service to Panama City, Panama and from April 14, 2008, it will include San Antonio, Texas as one of its destination. It has also received approval to start its services to Chiclayo, Peru. However, the dates are yet to be set.

The airline company is also awaiting approval from the foreign Governments to start operation in Caracas of Venezuela.

Spirit Airlines has 35 aircrafts in total. The aircrafts which are currently in use are 4Airbus A321-200 and 31Airbus A319-100. The average fleet age of all the aircrafts of Spirit Airlines was 2.1 years. It has the youngest fleet in the United States of America.
