Jordan is one of the leading countries of the middle east Asia. This Arabian country is bordered by Syria on the north. On the north-east of Jordan there lies Israel. On the west of Jordan there lies the
West Bank. Saudi Arbia the largest country in the Arab region lies on the south and east of Jordan.
Jordan is a country in the middle east which shares its coast lines of Gulf of Aqaba with the countries like Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Israel. Jordan also shares the coastlines of Dead Sea with its neighbor Israel. Amman is the capital city of Jordan.
Economy of Jordan
Jordan is a country which has very scanty natural resources. Though situated in the middle east Asia this country does not have oil reserve. Jordan in the recent years has tried to manipulate its other resources in as many way as possible. Jordan has developed Qualifying Industrial Zones or QIZ where
many types of manufacturing work is done. In these Qualifying Industrial Zones various units of manufacturing have been set up. The manufacturing units mainly manufactured textiles and garments.
Jordan is a major supplier of garments to the western world. Recently emphasis has been given on the sector of Information Technology (IT).
| Aqaba Special Economic Zone (ASEZ) is an economic zone specially developed as a model for providing government facilities to the private sector companies.
Jordan has signed a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the United States of America. This agreement
came into effect in the December 2001. This agreement will slowly remove duties on all most every kind of services and goods provided by Jordan within the year 2010. This agreement also calls for
open market in the sectors like health services, finance services transportations and constructions.
Jordan is a member of World Trade Organization or WTO since the year 2000.

Tourism in Jordan
Tourism is another very important sector of the Jordanian economy. This is a sector which contributes
10 to 12 percent in the gross national product of Jordan. Jordan is a politically stable country. It also offers a few places of interest to be seen by the tourists. As a result a good number of tourists are visiting this country in the middle east every year. You will find a few desert castles in the different destinations in Jordan. In the capital city of Jordan you will see the remnants of the Roman Theater and also a few museums.
