Cirrus Airlines

Cirrus Airlines is a German airline, which have its base at Saarbrucken in Germany. It is the operator of scheduled as well as charter flights; the scheduled flights being operated for Lufthansa. Lufthansa is the second major European airline that is the flag carrier of Germany and also the sixth biggest airline of the world in respect of the total number of passengers served. The primary base of Cirrus Airlines is the Saarbrucken Airport.

Cirrus Airlines was launched as ‘Cirrus Luftfahrtgesellschaft mbH’ on the month of February in 1995. It used to operate executive charter flights and in 1998 March it obtained its license of operating scheduled flights between Hamburg and Saarbrucken. Cirrus Airlines started operating along the route between Mannheim City Airport and Berlin Tempelhof after the take over of this route by it from Cosmos Air. On its fifth anniversary on the month of February in 2000 a major decision was taken and it entered into a partnership with Lufthansa and as a result became one of the franchise members of Team Lufthansa.

In April 2000 Cirrus got licenses for operating scheduled flights on a regular basis from Mannheim Airport to Hamburg and between Sylt/Westerland and Berlin. It grew its business progressively from 2001 by beginning the operation of scheduled flights between Heringsdorf Airport and Berlin Tempelhof, between Munich and Rostock, between Berlin Tempelhof and Saarbrucken, between Zurich and Leipzig, between Ohrid and Frankfurt, between Skopje and Frankfurt, between Dresden and Mannheim City Airport, between Zurich and Dresden, between London City and Munich, and between Olbia and Mannheim City Airport.

Cirrus Airlines is a subsidiary of the Cirrus Group Holding that includes Cirrus Aviation/DCA, Swiss Eagle and Augsburg Airways. Currently the Cirrus Group Holding operates more than 60 aircrafts with the assistance of 1,600 staffs.
