The national carrier of Belgium, Sabena, had become bankrupt in the year 2002. But the subsidiary airline of Sabena, DAT was able to survive the catastrophe. The subsidiary airline was taken over by SN Airholding, a company which was set up in the year 2002 itself. SN Airholding renamed DAT as the SN Brussels Airlines. The fortune of the airlines got a tremendous boost owing to some brilliant work done by the former CEO Peter Davies and Professor Jean Frederic Mognetti. In the year 2005, the airline took over Virgin Express.
