Philippine Airlines is historically known as Philippine Air Lines too. It was founded in 1941, has its headquarters in Pasay City Philippines and its parent company is PAL Holdings,Inc.

The airline was the first commercial airline in Asia and the oldest still in operation.

Philippine Airlines (abbreviated as PAL) is the national carrier of the Philippines nation and its corporate slogan is “It's about experience”

Its hub airports are Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Manila and Mactan-Cebu International Airport, Cebu City.

The airlines has a fleet size of 40 with 17 on order and 2 on lease order.

The airlines flies to 44 major destinations It serves 18 destinations in Philippines and 26 destinations in United States, Canada, Australia, East Asia and Southeast Asia.

PAL was badly affected by the Asian Financial Crisis in 1997. The airline had to downsize its international operations by totally cutting operations to Europe and later Southwest Asia, stopping all domestic services except routes operated from Manila. It also reduced the size of its fleet and terminated the jobs of of many thousands of employees.

The airline, placed under receivership in 1998, gradually came back to a better standing and exited receivership in 2007.

Philippine Airlines is the first Philippine airline to be accredited by the International Air Transport Association with the IOSA (IATA Operations Safety Audit). It has also garnered a 3-star rating from Skytrax.

Philippines airport facilities: There are sufficient air traveler facilities such as toilets, tourist information, tourist assistance counters, ATMs and banks, representatives of travel agencies and hotels, post service, phone booths and medical service centers.

Free baggage carts and porter services are available. The airports are handicapped-friendly with wheelchairs being available on request from the ground staff.
