The Yeti Airlines which is a Nepal based airline conducts several major flights in Nepal. The airline operates an extensive network of domestic flight services. The IATA Code of the Yeti Airlines is 0Y. The Yeti Airlines date back to May 1998 when it was established. On 17 August 1998, the airline company received its Air Operators Certificate. The operations by the Yeti Airlines were triggered off with two aircrafts which were De Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter. The Yeti Airlines is the leader in the market where the domestic airline industry of Nepal is concerned and contributes a share over 60% out of the total share of the market in the month of January in the year 2007. This airline company operates the most number of domestic flights with flights to most of the cities in the country than any other.

One of the most interesting facts about Yeti airlines is that that the company also organizes flights for sightseeing over the Everest. The Yeti Airlines offers one-hour long trips of the Everest for sightseeing in its Jetstream 41. Each passenger gets a window view and are also allowed to use the cockpit for a view of the Himalayas. The introduction of this flight has popularized the Nepal tourism all the more.
On 25 May 2004 the De Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter Series 300 (9N-AFD) of Yeti Airlines crashed on the way from Kathmandu to Lukla and the debris was found on the Lamjura hill. There were no survivors. On 21 June 2006 De Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter Series 300 (9N-AEQ) aircraft crashed into a eastern side mountain which was on its way from Surkhet to Jumla Airport. Both the crew and the passengers were killed. The Yeti Airlines fleet consists of 5 BAe Jetstream 41 and 5 De Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter Series 300.
In 2006 BAe Systems concluded an agreement with Yeti Airlines for the long-term lease of four 29-seat Jetstream 41 aircraft. Yeti Airlines is a Private Limited Company and received its Air Operator Certificate in 1998.
