Necon Air

The Necon Air is an airlines company that is based in the country of Nepal. The operations by the Necon Air were suspended in the year 2003. The Necon Air was the first airline company of Nepal that was owned privately. This airline company was established in the year 1992. In the year 2001 there was an operational merge of Necon Air with two local airlines company called Karnali Air and Shangri-La Air. Then there were plans and an announcement was made that two Boeing or Airbus aircraft of medium size would be added by the September 2002. With this two regional destinations were also extended one of which was in South Asia and the other was in China. Captain Narayan Singh Pun who was the then Executive Chairman of Karnali Air took the position of Executive Chairman and Managing Director of the company.

The financial crisis compelled the Necon Air Company to suspend flights in the year 2003. The company was in debts and owed huge sums to the private commercial banks. The company also owed Rs.20 million to the Nepal Oil Corporation for fuel and Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal. The company was also in much dispute with Raytheon over their Beech 1900 aircraft. The Necon Air operated several flights in Nepal in the cities like Pokhara, Biratnagar, Bhadrapur, Janakpur, Bhairawa and Nepalgunj. In India it operated flights to the cities of Patna and Varanasi.

There have been several incidents and accidents in the flights of the Necon Air. On 6th November in the year 1997 Avro 748-100 (9N-ACM) of Necon Air had a hydraulic system failure and struck another Avro 748 (9N-ACW) on the runway but there were no casualties. On 18 January in the year 1999 the Cessna 208 Caravan I (9N-ADA) of Necon Air crashed after take off from Jumla Airport killing 4 passengers and 1 crew member. On 5 September in the year 1999 Flight 128 crashed on collision with Tower of Nepal Telecommunication Corporation on its way from Pokhara to Kathmandu and all the passengers were killed.

The Necon Air includes in its fleet one ATR 42-300 aircraft. Previously, the airline company has a record of operating several numbers of aircrafts. Some of the aircrafts that the Necon Air had operated includes the three Avro 748, one Cessna 208 Caravan and two Raytheon Beech 1900C Airliner.
