Air Tanzania |
Flying to Tanzania is surely a convenient and a comfortable option which has led to the attraction of numerous travelers to this largest country of east Africa. Although the country boasts of a wide range of domestic carriers, yet it can feel proud of its national airline named Air Tanzania. This is the national airline of Tanzania, which is based in Dar es Salaam, having its main hub in Julius Nyerere International Airport. This airport in the capital city serves as the major flying base which invites millions of travelers every year. This important airline of Tanzania was founded in the year 1977 after the breakup of East African Airways. In the initial years flights operated from Dar-es-Salaam with the help of two aircrafts Boeing 737-200s and Fokker F27s.
| The Air Tanzania was fully owned by the Government of Tanzania in the past with the help of the Air Tanzania Corporation (ATC). But as the government looked forward to privatize the company, it gave birth to Air Tanzania Company Limited (ATCL). Being the only National Airlines of Tanzania, it has to bear the burden of transporting the large number of visitors coming here every year. After the initial hiccups, this African airline has now developed itself into one of the well developed airlines of the World. Some of the other reputed international airlines like Kenya Airways, South African Airways were willing to make allies with Air Tanzania, but it did not turn out to be fruitful.

Air Tanzania went through difficult phases regarding their conflict with South African Airways, but after the dissolution of the partnership with South African Airways it was re-launched in September 2007. New logo was introduced replacing the flag symbol with the Giraffe, considered as Tanzania's national icon. Presently there are 5 quality aircrafts under the name of Air Tanzania including the names like Fokker F28, Boeing 767-200 and McDonnell Douglas. These flights offer frequent flights to some popular countries of Africa like Democratic Republic of Congo, Mozambique, Rwanda, South Africa and Zambia. Since the last two years, the airlines have been earning a revenue of around $ 8 to 9 billion on a succession. The international routes which Air Tanzania covers include China, Dubai and Hong Kong. Very recently, the popular Tanzania Airlines has started using electronic ticketing for the convenience of the travelers. You can simply venture out on a safe flying experience traveling in any of these flights of Air Tanzania.
