Domestic flights

The advent of aviation in the field of transportation has changed the face of the transportation industry. Traveling across countries and continents have become immensely hassle free and a matter of few hours only. In the recent times all other means of traveling internationally have become obsolete and have been replaced by air travel. But, when the question of traveling within one's own country arises, train journey is preferred more to flights. The main reason behind this is the cost involved. The cost of the flight tickets is so very high that the common people can hardly avail those. Even a few years back availing domestic flights was the prerogative of a privileged few. Domestic flights had been introduced in the developed countries of the west far ahead of the developing countries. As, the economic base of the western countries were superior to that of the developing countries, it was feasible for the citizens of those countries to afford flight tickets for visiting domestic destinations.

The scenario has undergone a sea change over the past few decades. Due to the introduction of many on-sky treaties, several private companies have forayed into the field of aviation. These companies have posed serious threat to the existence of national airlines. This came as a boon for the common man. The costs of air tickets decreased considerably. This made it possible for the common man to avail tickets of domestic flights. This process led to the introduction of the low cost carriers which started providing cheap air tickets. The Pacific Southwest was the first company to do so. Other American and British companies soon followed suit. Soon, the Asian companies also started providing cheap domestic flights. The break neck speed of the present era has compelled even the common man to avail domestic flights. The trend of opting for domestic flights in place of other modes of transport is growing in developing countries like India.
