Types of Flights |
The advent of flights has changed our lives. There used to be a time when traveling abroad would mean spending months at a stretch on the sea. Even traveling to domestic destinations would involve several hassles. The uncertainties and the amount of time taken were cut short by the invention of the airplanes. From the plane that the Wright brothers invented to the present day sophisticated airliners, the airplane has traveled a lot of distance. The air flights found a major use during the World War II. Before that, only a handful of people traveled on aircrafts. In the world war the aircrafts were used for the purpose of bombarding on targets or carrying ammunitions. After the World War II was over the aviation industry experienced a boom in countries like USA. This was because several pilots were released from their duties as war pilots and several aircrafts also became available.Over the years the aviation industry got divided into the following categories – Civil aviation and Military aviation.

Civil aviation consists of general as well as chartered or scheduled flights. Aircrafts used in military aviation is quite different from those used by the airliners. Till the 1970s most of the airlines were national flag carriers and were sponsored by their Governments. In the subsequent years several open sky contracts were signed which led to the emergence of many private airlines. The national airlines which had not faced any competition till now, had to face severe competition. This made the airlines provide several types of flights offering lucrative offers, to their customers. The cheap flights and the discount flights are the outcome of such offers. Previously people availed flights for visiting international destinations only. But in the present times domestic flights are also gaining popularity.
