William E. Boeing initiated the operation of this company in Seattle, Washington on July 15, 1916 as the “Pacific Aero Products Co.” Boeing Company flew its first flight in June 15 of one of the two “B&W” sea-planes made with a little help from George Conrad Westervelt, the U.S. Navy engineer. On May 9, 1917, the company was transformed into a “Boeing Airplane Company” that started manufacturing Boeing Flights.In 1929, the Boeing Company changed its name into the United Aircraft and Transport Corporation and acquired Hamilton Standard Propeller Company, Pratt & Whitney, and Chance Vought United.
Then this Boeing Plane Company bought the National Air Transport in 1930. The Air Mail Act of 1934 prohibited airlines and aircraft-manufacturing companies from remaining under the same umbrella and the company got split into three smaller organizations viz. Boeing Airplane Company, United Airlines, and United Aircraft Corporation.
